CDL Driver (Equipment Hauler)

Hauling skid steers and equipment between the shop and job sites. Local runs, not over the road.

This seat moves the machines. Skid steers, mini excavators, and the rest of the equipment have to be on the pad before the crew can start, and back on the trailer when the job wraps. If you can load, chain, and strap a machine correctly and back a trailer into a tight residential driveway without taking out a mailbox, you already know most of the job.

Runs stay inside the service area, which reaches from Beaver County through Allegheny County and west into eastern Ohio. This is not over-the-road freight. Between hauls, drivers work with the crew on site, so this suits somebody who would rather not sit still all day.

What The Work Looks Like

• Hauling skid steers, mini excavators, and equipment between the shop and job sites
• Loading, chaining, binding, and strapping machines so the load is secure and legal
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections and keeping the truck and trailer serviceable
• Backing trailers into residential driveways and tight commercial sites
• Hauling material, forms, and tools out to the crew
• Working with the crew on site between runs

What You Need

• Class A CDL preferred. Class B considered depending on the equipment assignment.
• 21 or older. Runs cross into Ohio, which makes them interstate, and interstate CDL operation requires 21.
• Valid DOT medical examiner's certificate, or the ability to obtain one
• Clean driving record
• Experience hauling equipment on a trailer, including securement

Helps, But Not Required

• Lowboy, tag trailer, or equipment hauler experience
• Ability to run the machines you are hauling
• Dump truck experience
• Any concrete or construction background
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
